You have to love a country that trades in liquid as much as it does in hard currency.

I did a job this week where I had some turf laid for a customer, but pulled up 17 square meters short… bugger… I obviously stuffed up the measuring.

It was going to be a messy and annoying exercise heading out to the turf farm today to get a small amount of lawn and then trying to get someone to compact it for me.

But the local developers just happened to be doing a huge job on the block next door and had 18 square meters of left overs – and a plate compactor to wack it with.

Back here I wondered if we ought to change the way we pray.

Instead of discussing our needs and then offering prayers at the end, perhaps we ought to invite God into our conversations and ‘pray as we go’, imagining him there as a partner in conversation rather than the silent and ignored person until we decide to ‘pray’. We talked about this on Sunday and agreed we will attempt to pray a bit differently and see what develops.

I don’t think anyone was freaked by the idea, but we have become so conditioned to one way of doing things that chances are we will struggle to do it a different way.

Just a bit of notice that my old friend Tallskinnykiwi will be in Perth shortly.

As much as I would love to be there I imagine that being our first night back from Melbourne after 5 days away, our kids might not appreciate our absence…
