I don’t know Ezereve, the woman who wrote this post, but I enjoyed reading her down to earth, open handed assessment of her experience with X Factor.
If you wonder what happens on these ‘talent’ shows then this report gives a good insight. Goodonya Ezereve for writing your real experience.
The shows are all about good TV and entertaining the crowds. Tears and emotions make for involving viewing, while cool, and relaxed professional behaviour generally does not.
A work friend went on Dragons Den – a UK program that examines new business start ups and offers funding for those that can win the dragons (investors) over with a good pitch. Her perspective was that it’s all rigged to generate tears, and anyone responding professionally gets as little air time as possible. I believe she was on TV for about 1min 30sec.
