Little Lleyton

I’m no fan, but I have been impressed with his gutsy efforts over the last week – even stayed up late to watch him!

We’ve invited a few of the neighbours round to watch the final at 5.00pm today. Tnnis starts at 5.00 or so and we’ll order pizza for 6.00, if its not all over by then 🙂

Boxing

Is it just me or does it seem really really dumb to put two people in a small space and then make it the goal to hit one another really hard on the head – with it even better if you can knock the other person unconscious?

If a total alien came to our planet and watched boxing what might he conclude about us?…download weight of water the

One Day Late…

Today I finally got to take the new boat out – and after about 30 minutes I was leaning over the side and feeding my breakfast to the fish. I never get seasick, but today… Well…

It might actually have been a virus as the whole street has been down and Danelle was laughing at the toilet for a bit of last night also. I’m hoping that’s it!

Sadly we missed the good weather by one day. My brother got down to Scarborough Beach yesterday and snapped some pics of the beachies at their best. Offshore, overhead high and very very nice!!

These are specially for you Si.

Loyalty Rewarded

ellisAfter 20 years with the club, having been a founding member, a captain, assistant coach and having been involved in many ways, the Perth Wildcats have sacked Mike Ellis one year into his three year coaching contract and replaced him with Scott Fisher.

It wasn’t like they had that bad a season, especially given the limited talent Ellis had to work with!

I just think it stinks and Mike Ellis deserves a hell of a lot better.

Wild Surf at Margaret River Masters

If you missed it today then you missed one of the great days in surfing history!!

Go here West Oz time for daily live coverage of the big one. Today was ‘brown underpants’ day and only for the experienced – described as the biggest and most challenging waves ever surfed in a contest in Australia – 15-18 ft Margs. Its scary at 6ft, its a nightmare after that so these were very brave men!

Bells Beach 1981 was pretty wild… to beat that it was a hell of a day!

All surfers out there ought to check it out over the next few days – the swell is dropping but its still BIG. (The feed is pretty good on broadband)

No Pressure Craig…

The only way Ian Thorpe can overcome his disqualification from the 400m freestyle is if Craig Stevens voluntarily removes himself as a competitor – or ‘gets ill’.

So we have been told repeatedly by our media.

I feel for Ian Thorpe – I think the rule is a stupid one – and performance over a calendar year would be a better assessment rather than one race on one day.

But what kind of pressure must Craig Stevens be feeling?!

Swimming Australia must live with the consequences of their dumb rule – Craig Stevens is the rightful entrant in the event – if not the best!

Strange Obsession

Cricket – Australia v India

7 balls to go and we need 3 runs… For the last half hour we have needed more runs than there are balls…we have fallen behind…

Brett Lee is on strike and in the previous over he wasn’t able to even manage a score off three balls.

On that third last ball he launches a 6 over cover! Sensational

Then with 1 run needed off 2 balls he gets us home.

Danelle is in bed – I am clapping and cheering!download nailed free

Farewell Steve Waugh

Today is Steve Waugh’s final test before retirement.

Its always great to see a player who has gone the distance and seen things thru to the end. Waugh has had some great times and some really difficult periods – but there is no question that he is one of the all time greats.

Hats off.
