Jack

Last night the ABC’s Compass program showed a brilliant story love potion no 9 download on the life and faith of CS Lewis – or ‘Jack’ as he is known.

I imagine it would be hard to capture the spirit of Lewis in a doco type show, but these guys did him proud. It was in story form with an actor playing Lewis as he narrated his own life. They did well to capture that amazing mix of razor sharp logic, wonderful creativity, agonising honesty and perpetual questioning that has made Lewis one my heroes.

Thanks God for Jack.

If you missed last night’s show then you can see it repeated again this Saturday.

Safranitis

After last night’s John Safran v God exorcism show I’m sure I’ll get a few more visitors than usual as a result my post last year.

Seeing the whole thing again it certainly re-inforced that it didn’t look fake. I wonder what John would have to say about it all now?…

Father Bob

While I’m mentioning folks in other denominations, I should mention that ‘Father Bob’ has a blog and it even looks like the real mc’coy.

If you watched John Safran v God you would have met Father Bob, the priest of South Melbourne in the second episode when John was ‘roadtesting catholicism’.

He’s a character…

Right…

I’ve just been watching an SBS show on the religious right movement, looking at a range of stuff from conservative evangelicals to nutbag fundies.

It was pretty boring. Hmmm…

Desperate housewives was defintely better.

That’s all.

Desperate Housewives?

I saw the ad for this and decided to avoid it like the plague…

However last night in a moment of boredom I flicked on the telly and started watching. And… I like it! Its quite different to what I had imagined. I had thought it was a tacky soapie, but its actually a pretty dark comic comment on the emptiness of the so called ‘dream suburban life’ that so many desire to live.

I’ll be following the goings on in Wisteria Lane with some interest.

The Office

Last holidays we watched the entire Kath and Kim collection. This holidays its ‘The Office’, a wonderful British comedy based on excellent character development.

I love the Gareth character, Keith is a legend and David is scary because I think I know people like him… I think occasionally David is like many of us…

If you have never watched ‘The Office’ then do yourself a favour and grab the DVDs from the local store. It is a different style of comedy, but its clever and full of laughs.

Ouch…

I am sitting here watching the Panel where they are interviewing that guy who cut his own arm off after a rock climbing accident.

Not a fun story!

But now I know what to do if I am ever stuck in the middle of nowhere with my arm stuck under a rock.
