After sitting on the verge and chatting with our neighbours I eventually came home and began watching part II of Lord of the Rings.

The funny thing was that it looked exactly like part 1…

I knew they’d do some re-capping, but this was word for word, scene for scene. Eventually I got up and checked the vid cases.

It turns out that the shop assistant goofed and gave me the No. I case last night but with the No. 2 movie in it – so I have already seen part 2!

No wonder it didn’t make any sense and I couldn’t figure the characters out very well!! I’m not such an idiot after all…

The question now of course is what to do – go back and watch part 1 or just give up altogether?

This morning my brother, Loges and I rolled up at Hilary’s boat harbour nice and early all set for some surf. The wind was offshore and you can even see little bits of white water in the distance which are waves. We launched the Queen Mary, and I drove off to park the car while the other guys sat and waited – not watching as the boat filled with water…

I had forgotten to plug the bungs in! Oops…

When I got back and saw the water I had a feeling something wasn’t quite right… So… we plugged the bungs in straight away and then there was the choice… drain the boat or just go out anyway.

If you know me you’ll know that dragging her out and waiting half an hour isn’t really my idea of fun, so we decided to go for it. ‘She’ll be right!’ I thought…

The good news is we got out and back but it was a rocky ride! Unfortunately tides and winds conspired against us again and the surf was very ordinary.

But… we are learning!

Its been about 6 months now that I have been writing my thoughts down in this way. Its been the same length of time that I haven’t been preaching anywhere consistently. I am a person who can’t stop thinking – there is always something ticking around inside my head, and preaching used to be a good place to get it out.

Tomorrow I am preaching at the Wagin Uniting Church. This was the place where I preached my first ever sermon – in front of a whole 8 people!

Wagin is a little town of 2500 about 250kms south of Perth and its major tourist attraction and landmark is the giant ram… which also has giant boy bits – not visible in the photo (thankfully!)

I’m looking forward to catching up with all the old friends there.
