Yesterday I posted ‘the party’s over’ to let you know that things will be scaled down somewhat on this site.

As one who loves writing ‘the party’ is not completely over, as I will always want to slip my two bobs worth in on relevant issues. So its not the end of the road – just a decrease in output based on my shrinking free time!

You may notice I have added a few new faces to the list of blogs I admit to reading.

Lately I’ve done a lot of reading and learnt a heap from these other people. I imagine it will all die off fairly rapidly once I begin serious work again! But for now I’m enjoying the space.

Its nice to be here but I feel like I’m still settling in and getting to know my way around the ‘neighbourhood’. As much as its going to cost me $$$$$ I think I might say farewell to Blogger and stick with Typepad.

For the unfamiliar the two pics above are of an EH Holden crossing the Nullabor in 1968 (the Nullabor is a long stretch of road in the desert linking West Oz to the east) and a dunny/outhouse. You may know it as a toilet, or if you are an American it would be the bathroom!

I’m thinking these are two very Aussie icons and symbols of the great oz backyard – the backyard at home and the backyard that is the whole of Australia.

Thanks to my friend Roger Smith for the great Nullabor image. This was one of the roughest and toughest drives you could imagine before they got round to sealing the road. I have done it four times now – but never while it looked like that!
