Using gmail as a spam filter has been a huge hit.
In the last 4 days gmail has cut off 83 spam messages and let two slip thru (blog comments)
Nice!
This is in relation to email.
I can’t remember whose idea it was, but I like it. The idea is that you deal with every email as you hit it rather than reading and then coming back to it.
I have adopted this policy courtesy of my friend Jeff in Thailand and it is certainly a great way of dealing with the daily flood.
I used to let stuff sit in the Inbox. Now its dealt with and outa there!
As a closet geek, I often read Phil’s Geeky Info blog and the other day came across Airset.com hazing the divx movie online .
If your partner is always asking you what you are doing today/next week etc then this is a great tool!
Basically it synchs up your desktop calendar and contacts with an online version of it so that anyone with internet access can check your calendar.
Works for me…
Here’s a request from an Adelaide church planter who reads this blog. Any tips would be much appreciated i am sure!
“I wonder if you could ask people to comment on your blog re Laptops and data projectors. We are about to purchase and are leaning to a Sony CX75 projector (2600ansi lumens) but I’m not sure what specs we should be looking for in a laptop. We want to be able to project song words graphics and movies”
Thanks to Justin
I made a great discovery today.
First up was the discovery that he hosts WordPress blogs for just $4.00/month. So he is getting me set up and soon I will be at http://www.backyardmissionary.com That was a no-brainer! Justin is a great bloke offering a really good deal so soon that’s where I will be.
Secondly he alerted me to the Wayback Machine where I was able to find a couple of my old websites that have now been deleted or changed.
For those still doing church in the standard mode you may find my drama scripts
useful. There are 40 odd scripts there from my time in an established church, some of which are very funny (if i do say so myself 🙂
Feel free to help yourself. I was going to condense them into a book and get them published but it just wasn’t worth the grief.
I have just finished a run on our treadmill where I listened to good mate Stuart Wesley preach on the gift of pastoring.
Last week when I was running I listened to Haydn Nelson thru Subichurch. I enjoy sermons and like the ferment of ideas that occurs as I listen.
Then when I’d finished listening to Stuart I rolled back into my study to check the progress in the Margaret River Salamon Masters. Its great to see all the action from the comfort of your own loungeroom
If only I could ‘virtually’ run… and enjoy all the benefits with none of the exertion…
Tall Skinny Kiwi is taking a session at a conference he is not going to be present at…
An email from my ISP:
"Currently you are subscribed to e-wire’s Standard plan. As of March, you will be placed on e-wire’s new Pro plan level – offering a massive 15GB worth of downloads, and a faster 512kbps connection speed. That’s twice the speed you are getting now, with absolutely no increase in price!
We have also introduced our new XLR8 option, where you can upgrade your speed to an amazing 2MEGAbits for only $5. That’s up to 8x faster than ADSL!"
All that for $50.00 or the new deal for $55.00. not bad hey?
I have just moved my office around and part of that move involved taking the desk out as I never use it. I always finish up with my laptop on my lap so a desk is really a pointless waste of space and a symbol of a past era.
Reading this makes me glad that we have had our kids now though!
