Grendel writes a daring post on the Aussie icon – the chiko roll. He suggests it doesn’t deserve its status as one of our most celebrated fast foods. I have to say he pretty much nailed it!
Jason Clark writes a valuable reflection on how we navigate the waters of new movements of the Holy Spirit with particular reference to the Lakelands experience.
And Sub-text offers some excellent insights into spirituality and mission in suburban contexts. There’s a lot of good stuff there so check it out.

It’s all dodgy Hamo. The Holy Spirit (in my experience) convicts, enlightens, comforts. Watching the doco’s on this thing there is no need to navigate. Just stay well clear.
Just a tad extreme I’d think LF!
Pretty hard to condemn something as all dodgy. Equally pretty hard to speak of something as all good.
Hamo –
I understand that most things in life are complex, multi dimensional and that there are shades of grey. (Gee I am almost sounding Emergent).
…And a few things in life are far enough along the continuum to be deserve a binary judgement call.
The Lakelands thing falls in the latter category.
From all of the thousands of miracles that have been professed to occur there, when pressed, Bentley was asked to present verifiable evidence of just three miracles … he produced none! Another Charlatan – I am afraid.
I condemn the Chiko Roll as unequivocally dodgy.
The Chiko Roll is not all dodgy.
The end bits are really good with soya sauce. The rest is dodgy.
For the Chiko rollers this was posted by the credible* Charisma Magazine yesterday:
“Among those who jumped on the Lakeland bandwagon, discernment was discouraged. They were expected to swallow and follow. The message was clear: ‘This is God. Don’t question.”
